- protein for baby's cells.
- calcium to build bone and teeth.
- iron and certain B vitamins for you and your baby's blood supply.
ALL CHILDREN
With Cream of Wheat, it’s easy for kids of all ages to get many of the recommended nutrients they need to grow up healthy. Plus, they’ll love how it tastes!BABY
Baby is beginning to enjoy solids, and you want to provide the right foods. Here are a few tips to guide you as you work with your pediatrician to nourish your child:
Start solids sensibly & reduce allergy risks
- Many pediatricians recommend that infants start on solid foods at around six months of age. (Of course, you will want to check with your own pediatrician to see when the right time is for your baby.) Rice cereal, including Cream of Rice, is easy for babies to digest and not likely to cause an allergic reaction.
- Even if you make the cereal very watery, resist the temptation to serve it from a bottle.
TODDLERS
Toddlers want to explore e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! However, sometimes food is not one of those everythings. Since they’re growing more slowly, many toddlers are not as hungry, and would rather play. However, the more you urge them to eat, the less they will. Try not to get too unnerved, and instead try to make eating healthy part of a delicious new discovery.
Spoons can be fun.
- Toddlers are learning to eat on their own, and giving them the chance to mimic Mom and Dad with their own spoon and bowl can be great fun! Keep a damp cloth handy, more food will land on the outside of your toddler than inside!

PUMP UP YOUR IRON
Your body uses iron to carry oxygen to all its cells. Meeting your daily iron needs is important for building healthy red blood cells. One serving of Cream of Wheat can provide nearly half of this daily value.
The Facts:
- Women of childbearing age, pregnant women, preterm and low birth weight infants, older infants and toddlers, and teenage girls are at greatest risk of developing iron deficiency anemia because they have the greatest need for iron.*
- If you're of childbearing age, you need more iron than men do.
- Men aren’t getting the full 8mg per day that they need.
- About 2.4 million children aren’t getting their recommended daily amount of iron.
- Babies also need iron to produce healthy red blood cells, which deliver oxygen to all our vital organs – especially little, growing vital organs. Baby basics like breast milk or infant formula for calcium, along with fortified cereal for iron, like Cream of Rice, help give babies the nutrition they need.
- More than 3 million people in the United States have anemia. For further information regarding anemia from the U.S. Department of Health and Human services, click here.
- According to the world health organization, Iron Deficiency is the most common and widespread nutritional disorder in the world.

the United States. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention. MMWR Recomm Rep 1998;47:1-29.
CALCIUM CONNECTION
Grandma was right. A healthy body requires calcium, yet most people do not consume enough of this important mineral. Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth, helps keep our muscles running, and may reduce the risk of Osteoporosis.
- Cream of Wheat is an excellent source of calcium providing at least 20% of the daily value per serving. For an additional source of calcium, prepare a bowl with fat-free skim milk. Depending on the Cream of Wheat variety, this will provide at least 35% of your daily calcium requirement.
- Calcium-fortified Cream of Wheat provides 20% of your daily value of calcium, and up to 50% when prepared with 1-cup fat free milk.
- 90% of women don't get the recommended level of calcium from their diet. Adequate calcium intake throughout life, especially for teen and young adult women, is essential for strong bone structure, and may reduce the risk of Osteoporosis.
- Even before you see that first tooth, your baby's teeth are developing, while bones are growing longer and stronger, with the help of Calcium.
