The USDA Food Guide Pyramid helps you plan healthful meals for the entire family. It depicts the main ideas behind eating healthfully, namely, variety, balance, and moderation. The Pyramid is divided into five food groups, which supply particular combinations of important nutrients. That is why eating healthfully means choosing items from each of the five food groups every day. Of course, another key to good health is regular physical activity. Now there are two Food Guide Pyramids one for young kids (2-6 years), and the Food Guide Pyramid for folks over age 6 years (This one). Check them out!

 
   
   
 

The Food Guide Pyramid is for people over six years and shows a range of daily servings for each food group. In general, teens and very active adults should choose the higher numbers of servings; children and seniors should choose the lower numbers of servings.
